ok, this is a brain fart i had last night as i was falling asleep.. growing up jw i somehow developed the belief that women were not made in the image of jehovah, as men were, hence we were inferior to men, and therefore the requirement to be subservient.
it's been so long that i don't know if this was the teaching or my assumption.. counterpoint:.
god created adam in his image.. god then took one of adam's ribs and created eve (sounds more akin to cloning to me, after all it's only one silly chromosome that separates the sexes).. eve was created from adam who was made in god's image.. hence eve is made in god's image.. personally, i think when god made adam, he said "i can do better than that!".
Oh Man, I thought this was going to be a discussion about an episode of M*A*S*H.
(The one where they order ribs from that place in Chicago....Adam's Ribs).
Ok....going back into my little corner now......
i thought about this topic last night for the board when watching one of my favorite movies.. 1. the man from snowy river- the part when they are going after the expensive colt and they get to the edge of the cliff and all the other riders stop and "jim" keeps going and leaps down the cliff after the wild horses.
i absolutely love that part of the movie...everytime its on i have to watch it, if not just to see this part only.. 2. love and basketball- when she tells him she will play for his heart...awwww first time i started crying.
and then the music they had playing in the background made it even worse.
From On the Waterfront.
Charlie Malloy: Look, kid, I - how much you weigh, son? When you weighed one hundred and sixty-eight pounds you were beautiful. You coulda been another Billy Conn, and that skunk we got you for a manager, he brought you along too fast.
Terry Malloy: It wasn't him, Charley, it was you. Remember that night in the Garden you came down to my dressing room and you said, "Kid, this ain't your night. We're going for the price on Wilson." You remember that? "This ain't your night"! My night! I coulda taken Wilson apart! So what happens? He gets the title shot outdoors on the ballpark and what do I get? A one-way ticket to Palooka-ville! You was my brother, Charley, you shoulda looked out for me a little bit. You shoulda taken care of me just a little bit so I wouldn't have to take them dives for the short-end money.
Charlie Malloy: Oh I had some bets down for you. You saw some money.
Terry Malloy: You don't understand. I coulda had class. I coulda been a contender. I coulda been somebody, instead of a bum, which is what I am, let's face it. It was you, Charley.
our bill is 150 dollars a week for groceries?.
how much do you all pay?.
it used to be 100, but since the kids are getting bigger they are eating alot more...lol
We spend about $150-160 bucks for food per week.
But, now I started feeding the kids Gruel......
.
at my old hall, after the new sound system was installed, it would pick up am radio.. i have never known so much about the seattle mariners as i did in the 3 months it took them to find a fix for it.
Before we got nice padded chairs, we had the folding metal kind that would amplify the sound of a fart throughout the KH.
I took great delight discovering that as a kid and made full use of it.
i have only been watching sp for the past year or so, so i'm sure there's a lot of episodes i haven't seen, and i'm obviously a little late getting on the bandwagon.
but a couple of weekends ago they did a "25 most outrageous episodes" thing, and one of the episodes was where cartman had this j-lo hand puppet where he recorded songs and did some *ahem* other things involving ben affleck.
i don't remember laughing at anything so hard in my life.. oh, and of course the episode with mr. hankey and his drunken, verbally abusive wife.. so what's your fave?
How about Chinpokomon? Where the video game is actually training little american boys to bomb Pearl Harbor for the Japanese.
"You Americans have such a huge bulbous p___s, Japanese p___s so small"
my brother's wife gave birth this afternoon to a 5lb 7oz baby boy.
he was five weeks early (we knew he would be a preemie) and both mom and baby are well.
it's quite a relief really.
My warmest congratulations to you Mulan and to you Princess. There's nothing better than a new addition to the family.

Princess. Yes, that is the Butters show episode.
"One of us...one of us...gooble gobble gooble gobble"
Oh, how could I forget Sea-men!!
I also liked Cartman-land where Cartman buys the amusment park. Interesting take on the book of Job in that episode.

damn Mongoreans
"Why every time Chinese build wall, mongoreans have to come knock it down".
I LOVE South Park. There are so many good episodes. But, my favorite, is the Butters Show.
"Paint....Clean.....must clean Butters"
I always felt South Park (and I hate to use this word) "preaches" without letting the viewer know he's being preached to.
I first noticed this at the end of the first Mr. Hankey episode, where Jesus is sitting in the studio of "Jesus 'n Pals" all alone singing Happy Birthday to Me. Then the lights go out. The rest of the world is busy celebratiing Crap (Mr. Hankey).
Very Powerful stuff.
